- Deepavali Holidays: No KL Car-Free Morning This Weekend
The usual KL Car-Free Morning for this Sunday, 12 Nov, has been cancelled in light of this weekend's Deepavali holiday celebrations.
Residents and motorists of the greater Kuala Lumpur district, as well as avid cyclists, joggers and skaters take note; there will be no KL Car Free-Morning and its usual rounds of road closures this weekend on Sunday, 12 Nov.
The move comes in light of the Hindu faith’s upcoming ‘festival of light’ or Deepavali holiday celebrations that falls on the same day. This cancellation was confirmed by the initiative via a post on its official Facebook page earlier this week.
Apart from this weekend’s cancellation, the initiative is set to continue as usual, though this is pending further announcements. Given that the holiday falls on Sunday, the ensuing Monday, 13 Nov, has been declared as a replacement holiday nationwide in light of which.
On that note, roughly 2 million Malaysian motorists are expected to hit major highways including the PLUS Highway alone. This prompted the latter highway concessionaire mentioned to issue a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) as well earlier this week.
Fuelling this further is the government’s waiver on toll fees for said major highways across a two-day span – Saturday, 11 Nov and Sunday, 12 Nov.
