We previously reported that the Pangkalan Data Utama (PADU) socioeconomic database would be launched in January 2024. According to Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, once the database is complete, the targeted subsidy distribution process will be carried out fairly to eligible households.
Rafizi also stated that the targeted subsidy mechanism for RON 95 petrol would be implemented in the second half of 2024, with PADU being a critical component in allowing the government to determine and rationalize subsidies as well as implement social welfare reforms.

On its X (previously Twitter) page, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN) announced that user registration for the PADU database will begin on January 2 of the following year.

Malaysians who are eighteen years of age or older are recommended to visit the PADU portal in order to view their profile and update or verify their personal data, which is comprised of 39 distinct pieces of data in total.
Additionally, there will be offline methods for updating data in the database, primarily for those without internet access who reside in remote areas. The places to register and update details in these circumstances are the village community management councils (MPKK), district offices, and local authorities.
The ministry states that while registration is not required, it is encouraged in order to make sure that Malaysians who qualify for aid, such as targeted subsidies are not left out. image.png

With the system's launch, every household in the nation will have access to a national database of socioeconomic data, which will be updated in "near real time" and regularly analyzed.
