- JPJ Arrests 73 E-Hailing Drivers In Penang Special Ops
During a special operation in Penang yesterday, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued summonses to 73 e-hailing drivers.
The operation was carried out by the Penang JPJ Operations Unit in Sunway Carnival Mall and Penang Sentral on the mainland, as well as Queensbay and Bayan Lepas International Airport (LTABL) on the island, according to a statement issued today by JPJ.
“In the operation, 73 private vehicles were inspected and penalised for obstructing traffic, using excessive tint, not displaying the e-hailing sticker and parking in non-designated areas,” it said.
Aside from that, 103 summonses were issued to motorists and motorcyclists for various traffic violations yesterday during an operation on Jalan Sepoy Lines here.

According to JPJ, the offenses included driving without a license, having an expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), and not having insurance or a goods vehicle driving license.
Similar operations would be carried out in the future to monitor and bring charges for road users who violated the Road Transport Act 1987, Construction and Use Regulations (C&U) 1959, and Land Public Transport Act 2010.
