- New Porsche Macan EV Aced Final Testing Ahead of Debut
The new Porsche Macan EV has clocked over 3.5 million KM of testing ahead of making its global debut
Porsche is in the midst of launching its first-ever model to use the marque’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV architecture, the new Macan electric. Though its official name has yet to be made public, this new EV SUV has aced its final testing before making its global debut, clocking over 3.5 million KM of testing miles through various weather and road conditions.
More importantly, Porsche has also disclosed the final performance specifications for the new Macan EV, with the new EV SUV model getting a sizable 100-kWh battery pack that grants it over 500 KM of maximum EV range on a single charge. Thanks to its stellar 800-volt battery platform, the Macan EV will be able to charge at a rate of up to 270 kW, allowing its massive battery pack to go from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes.
Aside from its huge battery capacity, the Macan EV’s overall design has also contributed to boosting its maximum EV range, with Porsche spending countless hours in the wind tunnel to optimise its aerodynamic performance. Coupled with some integral active aero parts, the new Macan EV boasts a drag coefficient figure of only 0.25 Cd – a huge improvement over the current Macan’s 0.35 Cd figure.
Aside from peppy powertrain setup, the Macan EV also boasts some decent off-roading pedigree
On the performance side, the Macan EV is said to boast a total system output of up to 603 HP (450 kW) and more than 1,000 NM of torque, provided via its dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. Thanks to the PPE platform’s design, where the rear motor is positioned further back in the chassis, it allows Porsche to fit the new Macan EV with its rear-wheel steering (RWS) system, promising very good driving dynamics.
The new Macan EV is set to make its global debut by the end of this month
With more than 3.5 million KM of testing miles covered and countless hours spent on perfecting the aerodynamics, all of these efforts are taken by the German automaker to ensure that the new Macan EV still drives like a proper Porsche while offering decent EV range and a degree of practicality and usability. With its final testing already wrapped up, we can expect the new Porsche Macan EV to be fully revealed to the world in the coming weeks.
