- Would You Fancy The Ora Good Cat Better If It Looked Like A Porsche?
Making waves on the internet recently are images of this Porsche-inspired bodykit for the GWM Ora Good Cat EV hatch created by Thai tuners Lumga Design.
If you thought the Ora Good Cat EV hatch by GWM looked suspiciously similar to creations from a certain Stuttgart-based sportscar marque, we wouldn’t blame you. In fact, this Porsche-inspired aerokit for said EV by Thai tuners Lumga Design was bound to happen sooner or later.
As a refresher, GWM first unveiled the Ora Good Cat back in Nov 2020, and one key point the Chinese automaker stressed was the Good Cat’s design being penned by ex-Porsche designer Emanuel Derta. Perhaps looking cute wasn’t Derta’s key objective, but the curvy retro looks certainly made an impact.
No prizes on guessing which Porsche model stood as the base inspiration for this kit.
Perhaps what also drove Lumga Design to create this kit stems from the fact that the Ora Good Cat is made and sold in said Kingdom in a peppy ‘GT’ guise, which feature higher outputs of 171 PS (126 kW) and 250 NM. For contrast, the regular GT and Ultra variants has just 143 PS (105 kW) and 210 NM.
No prizes for guessing which trackday-ready Porsche supercar stood as the key inspiration for this kit – the wheel arch vents being the dead giveaway here. That, by the way, is just one of many sporty touches Lumga Design gave the Ora Good Cat through this kit.
Study the images closely and you’ll see said tuners went all out and created a new front bumper featuring decorative intakes, a front splitter primed below which, as well as a faux air scoop for the bonnet, but these don’t look as over the top as the wheel arch vents noted prior.
Other additions present include the a pair of side skirts, followed by dual spoilers primed in the rear hatch, as well as a rear bumper extension that boasts an integrated diffuser – presumably a decorative one too. There’s also the option for tinted headlights surrounded by black trims.
Surely, all this kit needs to complete its Porsche look are the right set of wheels, like this multi-spoke BBS set.
Perhaps the only area left to really make this feline-themed Chinese EV hatch look as if it really is the 911 GT3 RS’s EV city car cousin are the right set of wheels. Retro Fuchs-style big five-spoke designs come to mind, but the more modern BBS multi-spokes pictured don’t look too shabby either.
Apart from the elevated and now sportier stance endowed by this aerokit, the only bad news here is perhaps there aren’t any performance improvements to note – the firm doesn’t make tuning parts for EVs. In other words, this package is indeed all show, but minus the go to match - much like the Toyota GR Yaris RS we reported on recently.
So, would you fancy the Ora Good Cat better if it came dressed with this Porsche-inspired aerokit? Which add-ons do you like most? As susual, hit the comments below – and our social media pages – with you thoughts…
