- New Shelby Super Snake-R Bows With Widebody And 850 HP!
Tuners Shelby have taken the Mustang Dark Horse and given it a dose of steroid to become its new Super Snake-R build.

Unveiled during this year’s edition of the Monterey Car Week last week, the Shelby Super Snake-R is “designed for serious performance enthusiasts,” claims the American tuner renowned for its Ford Mustang builds.
For this build, tuners Shelby chose the already extreme and track-honed Ford Mustang Dark Horse as a base. From there, the tuner elected to fit a 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger to the Mustang’s 5.0-litte V8 heart, and it now pushes out a whopping 850 HP.
Besides a striking widebody via widened fenders, the Super Snake-R also rocks a pair of rear wings - one bootlid ducktail plus a larger fixed GT rear wing.
Buyers have the choice of pairing said supercharged V8 with wither a 10-speed automatic or six-speed Tremec manual transmission, which are tasked with sending all that power to the rear wheels that now each measure 13 inches wide.
Said wheels also measure 20-inch in diameter and are made of forged magnesium. To house these wheels better, Shelby also elected to widened this Mustang’s front and rear wheel arches using extensions made from carbon fibre.
The wheels are made of forged magnesium and measures 20-inch in diamater each, whilst the rear tyres also measure some 13 inches wide each.
Shelby also fitted carb on bonnet vents, a carbon splitter, carbon side skirts, carbon rear diffuser, as well as two carbon fibre rear wings – one bootlid ducktail plus a massive GT wing element.
Other additions include a new cooling system, fully adjustable suspension, new and beefier brakes, a short-throw shifter for those electing for the manual transmission option, plus a Borla active exhaust system providing the visceral soundtrack to match.

On board, the Super Snake-R sees Shelby opt for a stripped-down approach with just a touch of luxe, the latter stems from new embroidery on the front seats. There are a slew of badges and numbered plaques primed too.
Though, Shelby claims this is a limited edition offering, the tuner didn’t specify just how many units of the Super Snake-R it plans on producing. Each will be tagged from at least US$224,995 (approx. RM951,841) – original Mustang Dark Horse donor car included.
