Direct Service From Ampang, Putra Heights LRT Stations To Masjid Jamek Resumes
LRT passengers from the Ampang and Putra Heights lines will no longer have to change trains at Hang Tuah station in order to get to Masjid Jamek Station effective today.
In an announcement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd stated that, in advance of the route's full operation, a trial run for a direct LRT service between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations has been started.
Thanks to this new arrangement, commuters can now get to Masjid Jamek without having to get off at Hang Tuah Station and board an intermediate train. Nonetheless, it stated that "travel between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations will still require a free shuttle bus service."
The last stage prior to the route's reopening follows the completion of the tracks and bridge structure repairs close to Bandaraya Station. In order to ensure the passengers' safety and comfort, these repairs included replacing a number of track components in the impacted area.
The route is anticipated to fully reopen by the end of February 2024, subject to evaluation and approval by the appropriate authorities.
For the record, due to structural damage to the tracks near the Bandaraya LRT Station, which had prevented trains from passing through the area, this route between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations has been closed since January 27, 2023.
