Geely Coolray Sold Over 800,000 Units Globally In 40 Countries

The Geely Coolray, known as the Binyue in China, has emerged as a standout product from Geely Auto since debuting in 2018. With over 800,000 units sold globally across more than 40 countries, it ofirmly established itself as a leader in the subcompact SUV segment.

In 2023 alone, Geely Auto International achieved remarkable sales figures, with 63,000 units of the Coolray sold worldwide from Jan to Dec. This surge in sales propelled the Coolray to become one of the best-selling models in Geely's current lineup, indicating its growing popularity among consumers.

The Coolray particularly excelled in the B-SUV segment, attracting customers from various regions worldwide. Notably, Eastern Europe witnessed an impressive increase in Coolray sales, soaring by over 190% compared to the previous year. Additionally, Saudi Arabia experienced a notable 18.8% sales growth, further solidifying the Coolray's position in the market.

The Coolray, powered by a 1.5-liter 3cyl turbo paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic, features a sporty exterior with aggressive lines, LED headlights with Energy Pulse Three-way daytime running lights, and stylish 17- or 18-inch wheels. Inside, its dynamic and trendy interior is complemented by premium seats and integrated dual digital display.

Locally in Malaysia, the Geely Coolray has been localised as the right-hand-drive (RHD) Proton X50 since 2020. It stands as one of the top selling models by the marque. In 2023, there were a total of 31,829 units sold, including exports to other RHD markets, namely South Africa, Brunei and more.

Sometime this year, a heavily revised iteration of the Proton X50 is set to debut. May expect this the X50 to take on a sportier new look with reworked bumpers, lights and upgraded cabin features.
