P-Hailing Rider Who Set Fire To Auxiliary Police Car Wanted TikTok Fame
A p-hailing rider who set fire to an auxiliary police car and posted a video of the incident to TikTok in an attempt to garner attention was taken into custody by police today.
ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid, the chief of Petaling Jaya district police, stated that the suspect, a 25-year-old man, was taken into custody at Flora Damansara, which is close to this location, at approximately 10 a.m. A petrol bottle and hammer that were thought to have been used in the incident were seized.
“Preliminary investigations found that the suspect did the act to gain high viewership on the TikTok application by uploading a video of the incident through his mobile phone, in addition to showing himself being involved,” he said in a statement.
A Molotov cocktail that was thrown at a car belonging to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad's auxiliary police is thought to have caused the car to catch fire at 1.42 am today, close to the Mutiara Damansara mass rapid transit (MRT) station.
Social media users shared a video of the suspect with the car burning in the background, claiming that he was happy with the way the car turned out.
More specifically, according to Mohamad Fakhruddin, the man was a food delivery driver who tested positive for morphine but had no prior criminal history.
