Proton Sold 154,611 Units In 2023; Saga Is the Best Selling Model

National carmaker Proton provided some updates on its sales performance for the year of 2023 at its annual Chinese New Year press appreciation event held this week. As we have previously reported, Proton’s export to Brunei surged by 87% in 2023, marking an excellent year for the company.
There is more to it than that. Proton reports sales of 154,611 units, including export and domestic sales. This represents a 22% increase over the previous year and is Proton's best sales performance since 2012. With 70,184 sold nationwide, Saga is once again the best-selling model in Malaysia.

Proton has successfully maintained its position as the nation's second-largest automotive brand with those remarkable numbers.
Moving up to the second place as the best-selling Proton model is the Proton X50 sports utility vehicle (SUV). With 31,829 units sold, the car is a well-liked option among Malaysians for its roomy interior and rugged exterior. web_CariCarz_Review_Proton-X50-1.5-TGDi-Flagship_-2.jpg

The Proton Persona is the third most popular model among the proton lineup. 24,362 units of the car were sold in 2023. The X70, which sold 11,200 units, the Iriz, which sold 7,639 units, and the Exora, which sold 4,473 units, are three other models with noteworthy sales figures. As for the recently debuted Proton X90 and Smart #1, both models sold 4,815 and 200 units respectively.

To recap, the X90, which debuted in May, is the largest model in the national automaker's X series SUV lineup, ranking above the X70 and X50. It is available in four variants: Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship, with prices ranging from RM123,800 to RM152,800 on the road without insurance.
