The Porsche Taycan as we know it has been made better. Porsche revealed the updated 2025 model year version earlier today, and it boasts vast improvements all around to deliver enhanced performance, range, charging, and tech.

The 2025MY Taycan range sees two bodystyles available – standard four-door fastback and ‘Cross Turismo’ lifted crossover-estate hybrid. Porsche appears to have axed the Sport Turismo long-roofed estate version, and it’s unclear for now if this variant – offered in GTS guise prior – will continue.

In its latest 2025MY guise, the Taycan received a mild nip-tuck featuring new head- and taillights, whilst Turbo and Turbo S variants also gain the exclusive Turbonite accents.

Aesthetically, the Taycan gets a mild nip-tuck featuring new taillights and headlights, the former primed with a new HD-Matrix design with detailed optics. The latter now sees the Porsche script badge incorporated into the rear light strip and with a three-dimensional look.

That aside, a host of new paintjob options have been readied too. Specifically for Turbo and Turbo S models, these now get Porsche’s exclusive Turbonite accents to better distinguish them from the rest of the lineup.

On board, the 2025MY Taycan sees its cabin revised slightly with new and improved digital displays. Also heightened here is the depth of the Apple CarPlay connectivity functions.

On board, the cabin gains a new display with an optimised user interface featuring a lever behind the steering wheel that utilises driver assistance tech more intuitively.  As detailed prior, Apple CarPlay gets a deeper integration in the infotainment system, whilst a new in-car video function enables streaming on both the centre and the optional passenger displays.

Whilst on the cabin still, two new leather-free interior upholstery options were introduced, which come in Black and Black/Slate Gray. This also sees leather replaced with high-quality Race-Tex and wool-infused textile woven into the Pepita (houndstooth) pattern. This is offered as a cost-option in the base and 4S variants, and as a free option in the Turbo or Turbo S instead.

Elsewhere, the updated 2025 Taycan now gets lane change assist, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, electric folding side mirrors with mirror surround lighting, a new cooling system, smart range managing, a smartphone tray, wireless charging for devices, and more. These, by the way, are all standard fitment now too.

Underneath, the 2025MY Taycan gains larger new batteries that now accepts faster charging inputs. This also sees all variants gain improved performance and range, with Porsche touting the latter reaching a new maximum of 678 KM.

The most significant update has been performed to the Taycan powertrain across all guises. As a result, all variants aren’t just quicker than before, they now boast greater range, as well as quicker charging speeds. Key to which here is the new battery packs with revised cell chemistry.

The latter fact now sees sees gross capacity for the larger Performance Battery Plus raised from 93.4 kWh to 105 kWh, with a usable (nett) capacity of 98.6 kWh. Base models now get an 89-kWh (83.6-kWh nett) battery pack. Both are lighter than their predecessors, with the base battery offering a roughly similar capacity as the previous upgrade unit.

Besides bigger capacities, charging speed has also improved and the Taycan can now accept DC charging inputs up to 320 kW, thus enabling 10-80% recharges in just 18 minutes. Previously, it could only accept up to 270 kW only.

As for range, this is highly dependant on variant. However, Porsche touts an increased WLTP-rated maximum figure of up to 678 KM. This marks a 175 KM or 35% improvement from before. Bolstering this are the new and aerodynamically improved wheels and tyres with lower rolling resistance, plus improved energy recuperation at speeds as high as 400 kW – 30% more than before.

The Taycan Turbo S now stands as Porsche's quickest production model to date. It's heightened 938 HP output sees it despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 2.4 seconds, in fact.

The enhanced battery capacities also grant raised outputs and performance, and the range-topping Taycan Turbo S leads the charge here. Said flagship sees its output raised from 750 HP to an astonishing 938 HP now, thus allowing it to despatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 2.4 seconds. In turn, this also sees the Taycan Turbo S stand as Porsche’s quickest production model to date.

Even the base Taycan guise sees its outputs raised from 402 HP to 483 HP now, thus enabling it to complete the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds. Much of this enhanced speed across the board is borne out of the improved rear axle motor, which outputs 107 HP more than before now.

Moreover, Sport Chrono-equipped variants now gain a ‘push to pass’ button. This grants drivers with a temporary boost of up to 94 HP for a maximum of 10 seconds at a time.

All variants are now brimmed with adaptive air suspension, whereas AWD-equipped variants now see the Porsche Active Ride suspension suite offered as as option.

Lastly, Porsche also spent considerable effort towards improving the Taycan’s agility, and it sees all variants now brimmed with adaptive air suspension. The Porsche Active Ride suspension suite, on the other hand, is available as an option in AWD models.

The latter was engineered to always keep the Taycan levelled by absorbing bumps to keep passengers comfortable. At the same time, the system also reduces body roll and distributes the weight of the vehicle evenly to all four wheels for improved grip and traction through fast corners.

With today’s announcement, Porsche has opened the order books for the new and improved Taycan range for key markets – Europe and North America in particular. Deliveries, as well as sales in other global markets, are expected to commence later this year.
