Nissan USA closes out the 2024 model year of the GT-R sportscar by launching two new special models.

Japanese automaker Nissan closes out the 2024 model year (2024MY) for the GT-R sportscar by launching two special models based on the T-Spec model, namely the Takumi and Skyline Editions. These two limited-production special models are equipped with unique design features and touches that pay homage to Nissan’s most iconic nameplate.

The Nissan GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition gets two special plates on its engine bay.

Starting with the Takumi Edition, this model honours the eponymous ‘Takumi’ master craftspeople that are responsible for hand-building each of the GT-R’s signature 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 VR38DETT engine. It features a special red-etched nameplate that denotes the name of the person who hand-built the engine, plus a special gold-hued VIN plate.

In terms of performance upgrades, the GT-R Takumi Edition gets several extra pieces of equipment derived from the Nismo special model, including the Nismo carbon-ceramic brakes, as well as the Nismo-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control.

The GT-R Takumi Edition comes draped in special Midnight Purple hue.

On the visual front, the GT-R Takumi Edition pays homage to older GT-R models, as it comes draped in a special Midnight Purple hue—the same colour used on many previous Skyline/GT-R special editions. Other cosmetic changes present here include wider front fenders, while both its brake callipers and the Nismo Rays 20-inch forged wheels are painted in gold.

The purple-gold exterior is complemented by the exclusive Mori Green interior trim, which goes well with the gold GT-R door sill plates.

The GT-R T-Spec Skyline Edition pays homage to previous GT-R models with its iconic Bayside Blue hue.

Moving on to the 2024 GT-R T-Spec Skyline Edition, this special model pays homage to the ‘Skyline’ nameplate by wearing the iconic Bayside Blue colourway – the signature hue for the R34 Skyline GT-R model. Built upon the Premium T-Spec variant of the GT-R, the Skyline Edition also rides on 20-inch wheels as standard, with gold-hued brake callipers hiding beneath them.

The all-blue theme goes on as we get inside the GT-R Skyline Edition, as the cabin is laced in an exclusive Sora Blue interior colour scheme—almost similar to the Blue Heaven interior offered to the newly-updated 2025 Nissan GT-R T-Spec in Japan.

Both the limited-edition Nissan GT-R T-Spec Takumi and Skyline Editions are poised to make their way into the US market later this summer. While Nissan USA has yet to reveal their prices, we can expect these two “very limited” GT-R models to fetch higher premiums over their standard counterparts.

In Japan, Nissan has recently updated the GT-R model for the 2025 Model Year (2025MY), featuring some minor equipment changes and a new interior colourway. With both the Takumi and Skyline Editions set to arrive later in summer, we can expect the US-spec GT-R to get the same 2025MY update some time later this year.
