HSR Project Receives 7 Concept Proposal, Govt Needs Two Months To Review
The Transport Ministry has stated that the assessment of seven Concept Proposals from interested firms/consortiums for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore (KL-Singapore) High Speed Rail (HSR) project is expected to take two months.
According to a statement released by the ministry on the Parliament's website, MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) is currently reviewing the Concept Proposals received. After which the government will determine which consortiums will be shortlisted for the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase.
In response to Lim Lip Eng's (PH-Kepong) inquiries about potential government loan guarantees for the RM100 billion project, the Transport Ministry stated that no such guarantees would be provided as it has been divulged prior that the entire project needs to be funded through Private Fund Investment (PFI).
Furthermore, the ministry clarified that MyHSR Corp carried out the Request for Information (RFI) process, which ended on Jan 15.
In response to Captain Azahari Hasan's (PN-Padang Rengas) inquiry about the cost details associated with the revival of the five Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) stations, the ministry stated that the cost details have yet to be finalised.
This furthermore also portrays the government emphasis to improve the project, which had previously been shelved. During the Budget 2024 presentation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an additional RM4.7 billion allocation to restore the scope of the LRT3 project.
