- KL-SG HSR Project: MRCB Withdraws from MyHSR Corp
Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), withdrew its participation from MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd which was involved in a Request for Information (RFI) for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project.
With MRCB’s withdrawal, the remaining consortium members led by Berjaya Corporation Bhd now includes Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, and IJM Corporation Bhd, along with technical partners Deutsche Bahn, Hitachi Rail, and Hyundai Rotem.
MRCB cited its withdrawal stems from the need to focus on other strategic opportunities. Additionally, conglomerate Berjaya detailed that the consortium will now better align itself with the evolving needs of the project and meet the expectations of the Malaysian government.
The consortium and its members extensive expertise in infrastructure development, engineering, and transportation management gained over decades was also highlighted to indicate their ability in delivering large-scale projects especially with the inclusion of leading technical partners capable of handling projects of this magnitude.
Berjaya’s founder and advisor, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, reiterated the group’s commitment to delivering a world-class high-speed rail system. He highlighted the project’s potential to transform regional connectivity, boost Malaysia's economic development, and contribute to the nation’s shift toward sustainable and green mobility solutions.
Additionally, Transport Minister Anthony Loke also announced yesterday that the government will decide on the revival of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project.
A decision on this 350 KM- long plan, which links key stations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, is set to come by the end of Dec or early Jan 2025.
