PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has issued a crucial reminder to all Audi owners about an ongoing airbag recall.

This recall affects 2,297 vehicles. Amongst the models affected include the Q5, A5 Cabriolet, and A5 Sportback models manufactured between 2009 and 2012, followed by TT and R8 models manufactured between 2014 and 2017 with Takata airbags installed on the driver's side. Affected too are the Audi A4, A4 Cabriolet and A6 built between 2005 and 2011 with airbags installed on the passenger side.

To date, only 25% (569) of the 2,297 vehicles covered have been inspected or replaced.

According to Takata, in the event of an accident, the airbags' gas generator may rupture during deployment due to propellant expiration, resulting in metal pieces being projected into the car's passenger area, potentially causing severe injuries.

As a result, owners are strongly advised to have their airbags inspected and replaced at an authorised Audi Service Centre to ensure that their vehicles meet the highest safety standards. The entire replacement process, whether it is replacing a propellant component or the entire airbag module, will be complimentary.

In addition, all vehicles sent in would receive a complimentary 20-point vehicle check following the inspection.

To find out if your vehicle is affected, owners can go to the Audi website and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which is located in the bottom left corner of the front windscreen, or they can simply visit their nearest Audi Centre.

Alternatively, owners can reach Audi Customer Service at 1-800-22-2834 or email info@phsautomotive.com.my.
