Traffic enforcers apprehended a Malaysian man driving a luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) with an expired road tax, despite his feeble justification.
According to Kosmo, the 59-year-old driver was stopped by Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers yesterday (Apr 16) while traveling on the Grand Sepadu Highway in the direction of Bukit Raja. At approximately 11.30 a.m., he was stopped by the officers as part of an operation known as Operation Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2024. The owner of the BMW X6 had just returned from making purchases at a store in Kapar, Klang, according to Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan, when it was discovered that he had a road tax that had expired seven years prior.

He then explained that he only drove short distances as his reason for not renewing his road tax.
“He also admitted to not transferring the vehicle’s ownership after purchasing it,” Azrin said.
The BMW X6 was then taken to Shah Alam JPJ after being seized by JPJ officials in accordance with Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act.
According to China Press, it was also discovered that the car did not have valid insurance. This is punishable under Section 90(1) of the same Act, which carries a fine of up to RM1,000, up to three months in jail, or both.
