During our visit to Chery's Eco Exhibition and Model Showcase in Wuhu, China, Chery Malaysia revealed that the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV would enter the Malaysian market in the second half of 2025.

Just last month, CariCarz.com previewed the ICE variant of the Tiggo 7 Pro, which would be released in the fourth quarter of this year, and now we can confirm the PHEV variation would hit the Malaysian roads soon following that.

Based on our understanding at the showcase, the Tiggo 7 PHEV will have the same underpinnings as the ICE counterpart, measuring 4,513 MM long with a 2,670 MM wheelbase, 1,862 MM wide, 1,696 MM tall, and 175 MM ground clearance. For comparison, the Tiggo 7 Pro's footprint is very similar to the Proton X70.

However, unlike the ICE variant, which is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 197HP and 290NM, the PHEV variant would feature a 1.5-litre mill couple with dual electric motors powering the front and rear wheels, juiced by a 19.27kWh Lithium Teneray battery. The PHEV variant would churn out 360 HP and 530 Nm of torque.

Furthermore, unlike the ICE variant, which has a 7-speed DCT gearbox, the PHEV will use a CVT unit. All of this would result in the Tiggo 7 PHEV being capable of 80KM on pure electric propulsion and 1,200KM on combined hybrid mode. The Tiggo 7 PHEV would also have a top speed of 180KM/H and could complete the 100 KM sprint in 7.5 seconds.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV is stated to be capable of accepting up to 7 kW of AC charge and capable of charging up to full capacity at 6.7kW of input in approximately 3 hours.

In addition to the tech wizardry, the Tiggo 7 PHEV would be outfitted with level-2 ADAS, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Front Collision Warning (FWC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane-Departure Warning (LDW) with Lane-Change Assist (LCA) and Lane-Departure Prevention (LD), Blind-spot Detection (BSD), and much more.

On the tech front, the Tiggo 7 PHEV comes standard with a 24.6-inch digital integrated dual-display arrangement, with the infotainment touchscreen half providing the all-important Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection.

In terms of space and practicality, the Tiggo 7 PHEV will have a similar boot capacity to the ICE, which is 475 litres, promising acceptable utility. Split-folding rear seats allow for an even larger capacity of 1,672 litres.

Although we previously stated that the initial batch of Tiggo 7 Pro units produced in Malaysia would be CBU units from China, Chery Malaysia is looking into CKD options in 2025, which coincides with the anticipated launch of the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV. As a result, the PHEV model might be a wholly CKD product once both the Kulim factory and the new Shah Alam facility is operational.

Although the PHEV variant is not expected to arrive until late 2025, individuals interested in booking the ICE offering can do so now.
