- Launched: Bentley Continental GT Azure – From RM2.976 Million
Earlier this week, the folks at Bentley Kuala Lumpur (Wearnes Quest Sdn Bhd) marked a milestone as the firm sees the Flying-B marque’s Azure range completed locally with the arrival of its latest addition, that being the Bentley Continental GT Azure.
For the uninitiated, Bentley’s Azure trim is focused on well-being behind the wheel, and it features a heavy emphasis on a ‘stress-free’ interior matched with a full suite of active driver assistance (ADAS) features.
The Azure specification option is available across all five of Bentley’s current models – Bentayga, Bentayga EWB, Flying Spur, Continental GT, and Continental GT Convertible.
In Azure specification, the Continental GT gets a 48-volt active anti-roll control system that works in tandem with a three-chamber air spring, altogether providing a chassis that's both dynamic and comfy.
The latest of which to arrive on local soil, based on the third-generation Continental GT model, firstly promises a highly refined ride and handling thanks to its chassis’ adoption of a 48-volt active anti-roll control system. This tech promises to cushion drivers and passengers from excess movement.
The system works by electronically decoupling the anti-roll bars when needed. It can also apply up to 1,300 NM of anti-roll torque in just 0.3 secs when cornering. This tech works in tandem with a three-chamber air spring, altogether providing a chassis that’s both dynamic and comfy.
On board, the Continental GT Azure's cabin sports a more luxuries and higher comforts over the usual Continental GT. Here, finely-crafted trims are matched with high levels of cutting-edge tech.
On board, the Continental GT Azure gets a more luxurious and more comfortable twist to its cabin that also seamlessly integrates cutting-edge tech. Besides fine, hand-crafted natural materials used to make the trims, there’s also a panoramic glass sunroof present.
Visually, this Azure variant sees its exterior don special Azure badges on the front fenders, rolls on distinct 22-inch ten-spoke wheels, sports a “jewel” filler cap design, and it also gets bright-chrome lower bumper grilles.
Similarly, the cabin is also lined with Azure emblems on the dash, illuminated treadplates, and seats. Crucially, this specification also sees eye-pleasing quilted upholstery, and buyers can choose between 15 leather colour choices, plus various wood veneer options including open-pore options.
Also unique to the Azure are the 22-inch 10-spoke wheels.
Under the hood, Crewe’s signature W12 twin-turbo isn’t present anymore, but the Continental GT Azure still delivers respectable pep thanks to a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo mill outputting 542 HP and 770 NM. Drive goes to all four wheels via an 8-speed DCT automatic box and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup.
In the Azure spec, said powerplant is mounted further back for improved weight distribution, and all its mounts are specially optimised to deliver a balance between comfort and dynamic driving. Nevertheless, 0-100 KM/H still takes just 4.0 secs whilst V-Max is electronically-capped at 318 KM/H.
Unlike the driver-focused Continental GT S, the Continental GT Azure as detailed promises to leave both driver and passengers alike to alight at the end of any journey feeling refreshed, alert and ready to resume their daily lifestyle routines.
As for price, the Continental GT Azure starts from RM2,976,000 sans insurance, on-road costs, and additional options.
Should this high comfort-focused twist to the continent-crossing luxury grand tourer tickle your fancy, then get your chequebooks ready to commission one with Bentley Kuala Lumpur today.
