Puspakom issued a statement regarding its role in resolving vehicle issues, namely in a case where a customer was displeased with the braking performance of a recently purchased vehicle.

Although Puspakom did not specify any brands, the email sent to members of the media late yesterday stated plainly that "Puspakom wishes to address concerns regarding our role in the recent Chery vehicle issue".

According to Puspakom, the aforementioned vehicle was brought in to undergo brake performance testing following additional tests by Chery Malaysia. According to Puspakom, the Chery Omoda 5's brake system has demonstrated that it satisfies global requirements, allowing the vehicle to stop safely within a predetermined distance.

Therefore, according to Puspakom, it is inaccurate for the public to imply that automobile brands in Malaysia are utilising Puspakom to hide vehicle defects. Puspakom also wants to explain that their primary job is to conduct inspections and certify cars that arrive at inspection centres in accordance with Malaysian roadworthiness requirements.

Puspakom, as an independent third party evaluator, values public trust and impartiality in vehicle inspections and has maintained strict inspection standards to ensure vehicle safety and compliance without bias in accordance with the Road Transport Act 1987.

According to them, impartiality is expressed in their conduct, methods, and procedures, which are intended to maintain the highest level of integrity and dependability.

Mahmood Razak Bahman, CEO of Puspakom, adds that "Puspakom's vehicle inspection processes are accredited and certified by Malaysian Standards and MS ISO, and the inspection standards are based on benchmarks set by local authorities and the UNECE World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations".

He further stated that Puspakom is approved by CITA (International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee), an international organisation that is primarily and actively involved in developing and promoting road vehicle inspection standards and best practices.

Puspakom also stated that they do not detect mechanical defects; rather, the checks provide measurements and data that serve as indicators of any potential faults, which must then be further diagnosed by manufacturers or certified mechanics.

Ultimately, manufacturers play an important role in guaranteeing the quality and safety of their cars. It is their job to keep the promises made to clients, including producing vehicles that meet performance standards.
