CariCarz_VW_Golf_GTI_Mk8_Review_-13-full-(1).jpgCariCarz_VW_Golf_GTI_Mk8_Review_-2-full-(1).jpg Volkswagen has formally registered a number of new model names, suggesting that upcoming SUV models may bear the Taroko, Tempus, or Tukan badges. In an attempt to prevent them from being used by other businesses, the new names were registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office located in Munich.

Present-day Volkswagen model names start with a "T" (T-Roc, Tiguan, and Touareg, for example), and it appears the Wolfsburg manufacturer is eager to carry on the custom.

Therion, Tamis, Taira, Tyber, Tivas, Tera, Teriam, Therion, and Thron are among the additional names that VW registered in Munich.

It's uncertain if we'll see a VW Taroko in showrooms anytime soon because manufacturers sometimes register names to prevent competitors from using them. Even the Tarokko name, a variant with two "ks" in the middle, has been claimed by VW.

Typically, a very small percentage of the registered names are placed on the boot lid of a genuine model.

In certain instances, the nicknames could just as easily refer to a brand-new color, a collection of floor mats, or a virtual assistant. Germany's Autozeitung magazine has noted that in certain instances, they apply to a model that is designated exclusively for a particular market. JPJ-Recall-1-2024-(3)-full.jpg
