- Toyota, Huawei Partner For Autonomous Driving Technology
Toyota has partnered with Huawei to accelerate the development of its driver assistance systems (ADAS) and push for increased autonomy. In addition to Huawei, it announced a collaboration with autonomous driving startup Momenta.
The three companies will collaborate to integrate self-driving technologies into Toyota's global product line. Huawei will provide the hardware components using its ADAS technology, while Momenta will contribute the autonomous driving software. Toyota will manage the user interface and integration processes.
The partnership's first objective will be to address driver assistance features like automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assistance. Longer term, it aims to create systems that are capable of full driving without the need for human assistance.
Later this month, the partnership is anticipated to be formally announced at the Beijing Motor Show in China. Toyota will attend this event to demonstrate its mobility solutions to the Chinese market. When it comes to autonomous driving technology, Tesla FSD and BYD stand out. But alliances with industry heavyweights like Huawei and Momenta, a pioneer in autonomous software, might make Toyota stand out in the field of self-driving cars.
China has formed a consortium called the China All-Solid-State Battery Collaborative Innovation Platform. This consortium will compete more directly with Toyota.
