Radical Toyota Corolla Concept Teased Ahead of Tokyo Motor Show Debut
Taking the spotlight at Toyota’s showcase for the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025 is the radical Corolla concept.
The Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS 2025) is just around the corner, and Toyota has just dropped a massive teaser, showcasing what could possibly be the showstopper at the motor show, the new Toyota Corolla concept.
This radical concept first made its appearance in a teaser campaign called “To You, Toyota,” which highlights all the upcoming prototypes and concepts set to debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
Upon first glance, this concept bears little to no resemblance to the ongoing, twelfth-gen (E210) Corolla, featuring a much more radical take on Toyota’s current hammerhead front face with sharp lines and EV-like proportions.
Donning the front fascia are full-width LED headlights with sharp C-shaped ends, while the front bumper gets an EV-like clean look with a narrow lower intake. The sharp design bits continue to its side profile, with key highlights including sculpted side panels, a descending window line, a sleek fastback-style silhouette, and semi-flush door handles.
At the rear, the concept appears to take its radicalness down a notch, as it gets a simple and clean tailgate design with full-width LED taillights with pixel-like signatures a la Hyundai Ioniq 6, a sculpted rear bumper garnish with a lower-mounted license plate holder, and a decklid ducktail spoiler.
Not to forget, there’s also the Corolla lettering spread across the tailgate, thus further confirming that this radical concept is indeed a sneak peek into the next-gen model.
Besides its short cameo and a series of rendered images, not many details were shared on this new radical concept, including its powertrain setup. But given how EV-like the design is, plus the fact that the Corolla’s larger and more premium cousin, the eighth-gen Lexus ES, comes in both ICE and EV versions, there’s a chance that the next-gen Corolla will feature a multitude of powertrain options too.
Beyond the radical Corolla concept, Toyota will also be showcasing a collection of mobility concepts, including a cab-over pick-up truck, a minicar for children, a compact MPV with autonomous delivery bots, and a Segway-like, two-wheeled personal transporter, to name a few.
These models will be fully displayed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, also known as the Tokyo Motor Show, which is set to take place this Oct 30. In addition to these Toyota concepts, the automaker is also previewing several new concepts and prototypes across its portfolio, including a new unnamed GR supercar.
