5-Door Suzuki Jimny XL Gets Special Heritage Edition in Australia
Following in the footsteps of its 3-door twin, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny XL gains a special Heritage edition in Australia.
Following the success of the 300-unit-only Suzuki Jimny Heritage special edition, Suzuki Australia has now given the 5-door Jimny XL the same Heritage treatment, featuring retro-inspired decals and some additional equipment.
The 5-door Jimny XL Heritage edition gets the same retro-inspired decal as we saw on its 3-door twin.
Similar to the 3-door model, this special edition aims to commemorate the vibrant and colourful history of the iconic Jimny nameplate, especially during its heyday back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. As a result, the Jimny XL Heritage gains special retro-flavoured decals finished in red and orange, plus the classic rhino emblem and red-hued mud flaps.
On top of the special decal, buyers in Australia can opt from a range of exterior hues, including White, Chiffon Ivory, Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, and Granite Grey Metallic. The Heritage treatment continues as we get inside this special Jimny XL model, where it gets several additional pieces of equipment, such as a special Jimny Heritage cargo tray, a slew of rhino badges, and many more.
Other than that, standard cabin equipment present here includes a 9-inch infotainment display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, as well as some minor ADAS functions like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Warning.
The Jimny XL Heritage gets the same mechanical bits as the standard Jimny 5-Door.
Mechanically speaking, the special Jimny XL Heritage shares the same list of equipment as its standard twin. This includes both the 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp petrol mill rated at 101 HP and 130 NM, as well as Suzuki’s proprietary AllGrip Pro four-wheel drive (4WD) system. While the standard Jimny XL is offered with an optional automatic gearbox, the Jimny XL Heritage comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.
With only 500 units up for grabs, the all-new Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage edition starts at AUD 36,490 (RM113,959), making it AUD 1,500 (RM4,684) more expensive than the standard Jimny XL on sale in the Land Down Under. With its 3-door twin selling out in just two days, we can expect the 5-door Jimny XL Heritage to be an instant seller too, with Suzuki Australia advising prospective buyers to quickly place their bookings to avoid being missed out again.
The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is poised to make its Malaysian debut some time in Q3 this year.
Closer to home, Suzuki Cars Malaysia (Naza Eastern Motors) recently opened the order books the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door model, which is poised to make its local debut some time later in the third quarter of 2024. With the 3-door model currently retailing at RM174,900, we can expect the longer 5-door model to be priced slightly higher, possibly nearing the RM200,000 region.
