BMW Malaysia also saw the debut of the all-new and all-electric BMW CE 02 during Press Day of the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024).

Besides a wave of new metal on four-wheels across both its main BMW and MINI brands, BMW Malaysia also seized the opportunity at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024) this week to reveal no less than four new models for under its BMW Motorrad two-wheels banner.

However, what piqued our interest most here was perhaps the smallest of the lot to debut. Shown during Press Day yesterday was the all-new BMW CE 02 all-electric e-scooter. Effectively, this is the BMW Motorrad sub-brand’s entry level premium EV two-wheeler that slots below the larger and pricier BMW CE 04 model launched last year.

At just 1,70 MM long, 845 MM wide, and 1,140 MM tall with a 750 MM seat height, the BMW CE 04 is indeed a very compact two-wheeler.

Revealed globally back in July last year, the BMW CE 02 is a very compact and lightweight e-scooter, or ‘e-parkour’ bike, as the brand prefers to term it as. As for dimensions, it sits 1,970 MM long, 845 MM wide, and 1,140 MM tall with a welcoming 750 MM seat height. It also tips the scale at just 132 KG (unladen).

Visually, the CE 02 stands as a more stylish, ‘youngster-friendly’ bike compared to its bulky CE 04 sibling. Featuring a scrambler-like ‘naked’ design, the CE 02 sports a double-loop tubular steel frame chassis primed with telescopic hydraulic front forks, a single-sided rear swingarm, steelie-style cast alloy wheels, as well as all-round disc brakes tied to an ABS module.

Besides its double-loop tubular steel frame chassis and single-sided swingarm, other notable design touches include the slim and long seat saddle, as well as steelie-styled cast-alloy wheels.

Other notable touches include a distinct seat saddle that’s both slim and long, full-LED lighting front and aft, built-in triple-clamp smartphone cradle,  plus a host of premium tech primed including 3.5-inch TFT colour rider’s display that projects essential riding features. The latter is also brimmed with the BMW Motorrad Connect Application function.

Over on to the powertrain and the CE 02 sees a relatively small 6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack encased within its intricate chassis mentioned. Said pack juices a single air-cooled e-motor that drives the rear wheel via a belt-drive with peak outputs of 11 kW (14.8 HP) and 55 NM, allowing the CE 02 to hit speeds as high as 95 KM/H.

Additionally, said e-motor also offers three selectable ride modes – ‘Flow’, ‘Surf’, and ‘Flash’.

The slim 3.5-inch TFT colour display is also equipped with the BMW Motorrad Connect Application function, whilst the triple-clamps also see a standard-fitted smartphone mount.

Unlike the larger and peppier CE 04 model in the foreground, the CE 02 is a much friendlier-sized bike, and one that only requires a B2 class motorcycle licence to legally ride on the streets with.

As for charging, the battery pack boasts quick charging abilities that enable it to draw up to 1,500 watts. This sees 20-80% re-charges done in just 1 hour and 40 minutes, while full 0-100% re-charges take about 3 hours and 30 minutes. With each full charge, BMW Motorrad says the CE 02 can travel up to 95 KM (WMTC).

Lastly, all of which are packaged and presented in a striking ‘Style HIGHLINE Cosmic Black’ livery.

Set to enter the local market later this year, BMW Motorrad Malaysia has tagged the BMW CE 02 with a tentative price tag of RM38,500. Though pricey, it arguably stands much more ‘accessible’ than the larger and more powerful CE 04 model, which commands RM59,500 nett.

Note the 'hidden' charging port, and the belt-drive setup primed for the single air-cooled e-motor.

Adding further to said ‘accessibility’ is the fact that BMW Motorrad Malaysia notes that the BMW CE 02 only require riders to possess a B2 class motorcycle licence to legally ride it. This is a stark contrast to the larger CE 04 model mentioned, which requires riders with a B-full licence instead.

You can check out the BMW CE 02 e-scooter in the flesh, as well as test-ride it, this week at MAS 2024 by visiting BMW Malaysia’s pavilion located at Hall A2.
