Latest fourth-gen (F66) MINI Cooper hatch has grown a pair of extra doors through new 5-door variant pictured.

The fourth-generation (chassis code: F66) MINI Cooper hatch has grown a pair of extra doors, and it effectively sees the nameplate continue to offer a 5-door variant as its F56 predecessor did.

Revealed earlier today, the F66-gen MINI Cooper 5-door is essentially a stretched version of the Cooper 3-door hatch that launched locally recently. It features a more conventional five-seat layout with a rear bench over the base hatch’s strict four-seat layout.

At 4,036 MM long, the new Cooper 5-door is 160 MM longer than the Cooper 3-door it underpins, and 31 MM longer than its predecessor too.

The increased length also sees the standard boot space growing to 275 litres. Naturally, this can be expanded thanks to foldable rear seats.

Sitting 4,036 MM long, the new 5-door variant is 160 MM longer than the 3-door hatch it underpins, and a good 31 MM longer than its predecessor. In turn, this brings 38 MM of additional legroom over the former, plus a 65-litre bump in boot space to 275 litres in total.

Notably, the new MINI Cooper 5-door, poised to rival against the Volkswagen Golf, now stands as MINI’s final combustion (ICE)-only offering. Unlike the Cooper 3-door hatch, there is no electric (EV) version planned. Instead, MINI have readied two petrol-powered options, both paired with automatic boxes only.

Another key change here is the swap from 4-seater to a conventional 5-seater layout too, all stemming from the switch to a rear bench seat which also boasts increased legroom by38 MM.

The MINI Cooper 5-door will see both Cooper C and Cooper S guises available, with the Cooper C harnessing a 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbo offering 152 HP and 230 NM. Altogether, this entry-level variant’s powertrain promises 0-100 KM/H dashes in 8 secs plus a 225 KM/H V-max.

Naturally, the Cooper S variant boasts a peppier and familiar 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol heart instead. Rated at 201 HP and 300 NM, this variant stands a tad sprightlier with its 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 6.8 secs and higher 242 KM/H V-Max.

Both Cooper C and Cooper S guises will be available, the latter standing as the peppiest with a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill offering 201 HP and 300 NM.

MINI adds that the new Cooper 5-door has “suspension and damping system tuned for spirited handling,” with the option for adaptive suspension featuring frequency-selective dampers. Rolling stock options range from 16 to 18 inches, while those opting for 17-inch or 18-inch wheels benefit with wider 215 MM tyres too.

As for trimlines, four are available – Essential Trim, Classic Trim, Favoured Trim, and a sporty JCW Trim –and mirror what’s offered on the Cooper 3-door. All sport MINI’s signature new 9.4-inch OLED circular infotainment display suite powered by the latest MINI OS9 too, which includes the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Presently, the new MINI Cooper 5-door will be produced alongside ICE-powered versions of the Cooper 3-door model at the brand’s spiritual home of Oxford, England. Said plant will also be gradually re-tooled to produce the EV Cooper and Aceman starting from 2026 onwards.
