The Malaysian government will facilitate Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) registration for foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia, but enforcement of the VEP will begin on October 1 without any delay or U-turn.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated at the moment the government lacks a method to track foreign-registered vehicles with summonses and offences. Once the VEP system is in place, foreign motorists with violations in Malaysia will be required to settle their fines before leaving the country.
