- Goodyear Malaysia Looking For Buyers For Its Shah Alam Factory
The American tire giant Goodyear decided in March to close its Malaysian manufacturing plant as part of its cost-cutting measures, and now it is offering its Shah Alam Section 15 factory for sale.
An advertisement appeared in The Edge for the week of July 29-August 4, 2024, inviting tenders for a 29.3-acre industrial parcel described as prime industrial property and located at Lot 51, Persiaran Selangor, Section 15, Shah Alam, Selangor.
The advertisement, placed by real estate consultancy firm CBRE WTW, also stated that the land has "potential for redevelopment". The tender's closing date is August 28, 2024.
For the record, after decades of operation, Goodyear Malaysia has decided to close its Shah Alam production plant. This decision is part of Goodyear's regional transformation plan, in which the American tyremaker aims to optimise its footprint and portfolio in Asia-Pacific.

Established in 1972, Goodyear Malaysia's Shah Alam plant is one of the few dedicated tyre manufacturing facilities in the country. With the plant's closure, Toyo and Continental are the only two tyre companies that continue to manufacture locally.
