Limited Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years Edition Bows - Just 1,974 Units
This year, Porsche celebrates a half-century of its coveted 911 Turbo model. In light of which comes the new 992.1-based 911 Turbo 50 Years Edition special and limited edition pictured.
Porsche sees its iconic 911 sportscar model, specifically its 911 Turbo nameplate, mark its half-century this year. Rightfully, the Stuttgart-based sportscar marque has built a new special based off the existing 992.1-generatrion 911 Turbo model to mark said occasion.
Revealed earlier today, the new Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years Edition will see just 1,974 units built. If you haven’t figured it out yet, said number doubles up as the year where first 911 Turbo model – the much feared and lauded Porsche 930 – was first released.
Aptly, this commemorative special dons a slew of special touches inside and out, some with retro-flavoured approaches too. Standout touches here are the subtle decals that hark back to the livery raced by the 1973 Porsche 911 RSR Turbo – the inspiration of the road-going 930 Turbo.
Typical of Porsche specials, this 50 Years Edition comes decked out in a plethora of commemorative and retro-inspired touches inside and out.
Also notable is the Anthracite Grey-finished rear spoiler element, lower rear fascia, side mirror caps and bumper intakes, all exuding a string dual-tone look. Another eye-catching bit is the optional Heritage Design Package which we reckon will be highly sought-after by collectors.
Whilst on aesthetics still, the 50 Years Edition also wears a new Turbonite shade first seen in the Turbo-badged Taycan, Panamera, Macan and Cayenne. This hue is prevalent on the alloy wheels, rear decklid, fuel cap, Porsche crest and special Turbo 50 badged present.
Additionally, you’ll find “1974-2024” script featured on the engine cover, followed by a turbo icon that’s also used as a puddle light projection.
The same approach applies inside with this special's cabin, hence its 70s-inspired motif.
On board, the 911 Turbo 50 Years Edition sees its cabin draw inspiration from 1970s Zeitgeist movement and features bold MacKenzie tartan seat and door panel inserts. Turbonite accents are present in the seatbelt and contrast stitching, as is a RaceTex roofliner.
Elsewhere, Turbo 50 badged are donned on the lit-up door sills, headrests and numbered anniversary plaque.
Buyers opting for the Heritage Design Package mentioned see their units gain a unique Aventurine Green Metallic body hue, brilliant silver hood plus optional silk matte decals a la vintage race cars. These decals can also be partially or fully deleted, depending on one’s preference.
Just 1,974 units of the 50 Years Edition special will be offered, with said number also signifying the year that the first 911 Turbo (930) first debuted.
This option also treats the 911 Turbo special with Sport Classic wheels in white and silver, centre caps bearing the classic 1964 Porsche crest, gold-finished rear badges, as well as extended leather, tartan accents and green dials primed in the cabin.
Under the rear engine cover, the 911 Turbo 50 Years Edition continues to feature a signature 3.7-litre twin-turbo ‘boxer’/flat 6-cyl mill outputting 641 HP and 800 NM. This is paired with an 8-speed PDK automatic box and all-wheel-drive (AWD) – unchanged from the regular 911 Turbo model.
Unique to this special is a bespoke and louder sports exhaust system with black tailpipes, whilst its chassis rocks PASM sport suspension that sees it sit 10 MM lower with a more aggressive stance over the regular 911 Turbo model it underpins.
As usual, price and availability of this special greatly depends on one’s relation with your local Porsche importer and dealer. European prices starts from €185,606, which roughly equates to RM903,738.07, and that’s before any options and customisation mind you…
