New Porsche Turbo Models Will Get Special ‘Turbonite’ Badges

New Porsche Turbo models are set to get this new 'Turbonite'-finished crest
Not long ago, Porsche discreetly updated its iconic crest to mark its 75th anniversary, now featuring a cleaner and bolder look than before. Today, however, the Stuttgart-based marque has yet again ‘updated’ its emblem, though this time around only reserving it for the up-specced Turbo models.

Crafted by experts at Porsche Colour & Trim division, this new Turbo-exclusive emblem ditches the old and iconic gold hue for a new ‘Turbonite’ finish, featuring a combination of black and metallic grey hues to give it a darker and more sleek aesthetic. Other key details on this iconic emblem like the prancing horse and the signature Porsche typeface are all being kept the same as before.

Aside from the crest, this new Turbonite finish will also make its way to other parts of the car
Furthermore, Porsche also hinted that this ‘Turbonite’ finish won’t be limited to the crest, as the automaker has plans to implement it to other parts of the car such as the wheel spokes and several other exterior parts like the window surround and even the model lettering at the back.

Aside from the exterior, these ‘Turbonite’ finishes can also be seen in several bits of the interior. This includes on the steering wheel crest, seat belts, switchgears, and many more. The automaker also suggests that Turbo models equipped with all-black interiors will use ‘Turbonite’ as a contrasting colour for the stitching on the seats, door panel trims, and even floor mats, though details may vary by model.
Commenting on the introduction of this new ‘Turbonite’ crest for Turbo models, Style Porsche VP Michael Mauer noted that the ‘Turbo’ models have gone to become “more or less a brand of its own”, starting with the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo nearly five decades ago. Since then, Porsche has worked hard to “make the Turbo even more visible, and differentiate it more markedly from other derivatives such as the GTS,” which has resulted in the marque introducing this special ‘Turbonite’ finish for the Turbo models today.

The new Porsche Panamera will be the first model to get the new Turbonite crest
These new ‘Turbonite’ crests and accents will make its 'debut' on the next-gen Porsche Panamera saloon, which is slated to make its global debut later this month on Nov 24. This will be followed by other Porsche Turbo models, though the automaker did not specify when or which, for now.
