- GWM Haval H6 HEV CKD Rolls Off – First Deliveries in Oct
The local assembly for the GWM Haval H6 HEV has commenced, with deliveries slated to begin from October onwards.
Ahead of its local debut, Chinese automaker GWM Malaysia has commenced the local assembly (CKD) for its much-anticipated SUV model, the Haval H6 HEV. The CKD operation for GWM’s C-segment hybrid SUV fighter is being done at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) plant in Pegoh, Melaka, where first deliveries are slated to take place later in Oct this year.
Now that the CKD operation is up and running, GWM Malaysia will now run some quality tests on the locally-assembled Haval H6 HEVs. This hybrid C-SUV will go through a comprehensive procedure that covers 12 rigorous quality checks plus several on-track safety tests before preparing the model for its long-awaited local debut.
A little background on this hybrid C-SUV, the Haval H6 is one of GWM’s best-selling SUVs in its native Chinese market, with the model already reaching a global sales figure of over 4 million units.
The Haval H6 HEV will arrive in the competitive C-segment SUV market space is one of the few hybrid-powered options.
For our market, we’ll only be getting the hybrid variant of the SUV, which features a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged mill that is augmented with a single hybrid electric motor to deliver a total system output of 243 PS and 530 NM. Said HEV powertrain is then mated to a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that helps the SUV to reach a decent combined fuel consumption figure of 5.8 litres per 100 KM.
Dimension-wise, the H6 HEV slots perfectly among some of the market’s top C-segment SUV contenders, measuring at 4,653 MM long, 1,886 MM wide, 1,730 MM tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,738 MM. Thanks to its pretty sizable build, the H6 HEV also offers pretty spacious cabin and cargo spaces, with the latter measuring 560 litres as standard and can be expandable to 1,485 litres.
The sole range-topper variant will also get a comprehensive list of standard equipment, with key highlights including full LED matrix headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black, power-adjustable front seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment display with a 360-degree camera view, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, and many more.
You can now place a booking on the GWM Haval H6 HEV CKD with a tentative price of below RM145,000.
Order books for this C-segment hybrid SUV have been opened since earlier this month, with pricing estimated to be below RM145,000 for the sole range-topper variant. Should this be true, then the H6 HEV easily becomes one of the cheapest hybrid SUVs on the market, with its closest rival being the sixth-gen Honda CR-V e:HEV RS that currently retails at RM195,900 on-the-road.
On top of its segment-defining tentative price, customers who place their booking on the GWM Haval H6 HEV CKD before the official launch will also get some special early-bird promotions, including RM3,000 in exclusive value for their RM1,000 booking fee, a 10-year or 1 million KM engine warranty, as well as an 8-year or 1 million KM of extended warranty for the car’s HEV system, which covers the DHT, high voltage battery and cable, and transmission control unit.
