GWM Malaysia Eyes CKD for Long-Term Strategy; Haval H6 Coming Q3, 2024
Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced its long-term business strategy, emphasising four pillars of globalisation: Locally Built, Locally Operated, Locally Cultivated and Supply Chain Integration, all while staying true to its philosophy, “A car is not just a mode of transport, but a showcase of your lifestyle.”
This approach has resulted in a 62.59% year-on-year increase in global sales, with an impressive 201,500 units sold overseas in the first half of 2024 alone.
In Malaysia, GWM has strengthened its market presence since its establishment in 2022, especially this year with the launch of the ORA 07 in April 2024, followed by the TANK 300 in July 2024, which has received 300 bookings to date.
Additionally, the eagerly awaited GWM Haval H6, touted as the "Best-Selling SUV in China," is set for release in Q3 2024. It will also be GWM’s first Completely Knocked Down (CKD) vehicle in Malaysia, manufactured in collaboration with EPMB.
The CKD initiative will be a crucial step in GWM’s strategy to establish a comprehensive sales, after-sales service, and spare parts network in the ASEAN region. Additionally, this partnership with EPMB aims to offer a more affordable range of high-quality vehicles while creating employment opportunities for Malaysians.
Furthermore, GWM Global is committed to establishing Malaysia as a pivotal overseas subsidiary, which will indirectly benefit its local outfit thanks to its direct access to the manufacturer, enabling unparalleled after-sales support and warranty services for customers.
According to Mike Cui, MD of GWM Malaysia, “Our commitment to delivering innovative products and excellent services has always been at the core of our mission in Malaysia.” He went on to reaffirm the aim to establish GWM as a renowned and trusted brand, recognized for its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
