Hyundai has debuted the facelifted Ioniq 5 in the US, where it features a new XRT off-road-ready variant.

In case you missed it, Hyundai recently gave its beloved Ioniq 5 EV crossover a facelift treatment in its native Korean market. Months afterwards, the facelifted Ioniq 5 has made its landfall into the American shores, where it features several key upgrades plus a unique off-road-ready variant known as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT.

From the get-go, you’ll notice that the Ioniq 5 XRT has gained some off-road-specific makeovers and parts that gear up this boxy EV crossover for any overland adventures, if one dares to do so. Key visual highlights include the dark-hued plastic bumpers and underbody cladding featuring a unique digital camo pattern, two red-hued towing hooks at the front, several black-hued accents, and two exclusive colourways known as Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl.

Besides the aesthetic changes, the Ioniq 5 XRT also benefits from a lift kit and a set of all-terrain tyres.

More importantly, the Ioniq 5 XRT’s off-roading upgrades come in the form of a lift kit that raises the car’s ground clearance by 23 MM, plus a set of 18-inch rally-inspired alloy wheels shod in all-terrain tyres. The jack-up treatment also sees the Ioniq 5 XRT’s approach and departure angles increased to 19.8 degrees and 30 degrees, respectively.

The rugged off-road treatment continues as we get inside the Ioniq 5 XRT’s cabin, where passengers will be greeted by XRT-badged front seats wrapped in unique H-Tex upholstery, plus all-weather floor mats. To go with its blacked-out exterior trims, the cabin also features a black headliner, several black interior trims, and many more.

On the powertrain front, the Ioniq 5 XRT shares similar specs with the dual-motor AWD variant of the facelifted Ioniq 5, boasting a total system output of 325 PS and 605 NM. Thanks to its bigger 84-kWh battery pack, this rugged EV crossover also boasts an improved maximum EV range of up to 450 KM, which we’d reckon should be good enough for some mild overland adventures.

The US-spec Ioniq 5 facelift officially becomes the first Hyundai EV to adopt the NACS charging port.

Besides the new XRT trim, the US-spec Ioniq 5 facelift also comes equipped with a NACS (North America Charging Standard) charging port, making it the first Hyundai EV to adopt it. This means that new Ioniq 5 owners can now access any of Tesla Superchargers in the US without the need of using an adapter.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift is slated to arrive at Hyundai dealerships in the US later this year, along with the new XRT trim. As of now, this off-road special trim is only available for the US market, although we’d reckon the rest of the world would also be interested in getting them too.
