The JPJePlate is only required for new battery-powered and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles delivered beginning today, September 9th, NST has reported.
According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, owners of ZEV vehicles currently on the road are not required to obtain a JPJePlate; however, they may do so as early as November. They can in the meantime register their interest HERE.

"Today's launch of JPJePlate does not involve non-ZEV vehicles. The current focus is to ensure the smooth implementation of JPJePlate for new ZEV.

"The ministry welcomes feedback from the public regarding this initiative," he said in his speech when launching the JPJePlate here, today (Sept 9).

Vehicle manufacturers and distributors can order JPJePlate on behalf of customers who have purchased new ZEV vehicles via the website jpjeplate.jpj.gov.my for RM 98 per set, which includes a front plate, a rear plate, an RFID windshield sticker, and standard delivery.

The JPJePlate, which is based on the EU standard, is currently manufactured by Handal Ceria in Cyberjaya, despite the fact that the technology was developed by Tonnjes, a German company, SoyaCincau said.
