- EV Owners Can Now Order Their JPJePlates Starting Nov 9
Owners of existing electric vehicles (EVs) who wish to switch to the new JPJePlate for their license plate will be able to do so beginning this weekend. According to Handal Ceria, the local vendor designated to issue the plate, sales of the specially designed plate for fully electric vehicles will begin tomorrow (Nov 9).
Launched on September 9, the eagerly awaited JPJePlate was initially offered to newly registered EVs. Similar to its initial rollout in September, EV owners are unable to place direct online orders for the JPJePlate. Rather, they must order from authorized installers, which include EV dealerships, accessory stores, and workshops.
According to the JPJePlate website, 497 authorized installers have been appointed for the aforementioned purpose throughout Malaysia as of right now. The JPJePlate itself costs RM98, which includes delivery from the Cyberjaya production facility and the cost of a full set. However, since there is no cap on the installation fee, it may differ based on the installer you select.
It is not yet mandatory for EVs that were registered before 9 September 2024 to install the new number plate as the switch to JPJePlate for older EVs is on a voluntary basis.
