- Stellantis Suspends Production Of Electric Fiat 500e
Stellantis recently announced that production of the fully electric Fiat 500e small car would be suspended for four weeks due to low demand. This was expected since automakers worldwide were forced to rework their EV plans due to the global decline in EV sales, which was partially caused by various governments' policies regarding green incentives.
“The measure is necessary due to the current lack of orders linked to the deep difficulties experienced in the European electric car market by all producers, particularly the European ones,” Stellantis said in a statement.
The Franco-Italian group will need to put in more effort to effectively manage this challenging phase of transition due to the production suspension, which is scheduled to begin on Friday.
As part of these initiatives, the automaker announced that it will produce a hybrid 500e starting in 2025 or 2026 and is investing €100 million in Mirafiori to adopt a higher-performance battery.
The Fiat 500e is an all-electric two-door hatchback powered by a battery pack large enough to provide a driving range of 140-150 miles and a 117 horsepower electric motor.
Along with its adorable looks and Italian charm, the 500e retains the previous generation car's retro-modern style, but it has also been updated on the outside and inside, making it more appealing.
