- The Porsche Taycan Turbo S ‘Celestial Jade’ Is An Asian-Inspired One-Off
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade was unveiled as a regional one-off special with an Asian-inspired theme.
It didn’t take long for Porsche to give us a special version of its newly-updated Taycan EV saloon, as the German automaker recently unveiled an ASEAN regional special one-off version of the new Taycan, cordially known as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. This jade-inspired special is also the second one-off model based on the new Taycan, with the first one being the Korean-only Porsche Taycan Turbo K-Edition.
From the get-go, you’ll notice that the Taycan Celestial Jade gets a unique green exterior hue inspired by the Asian native precious gemstone that made up its name. What’s so special about this paint job is the gradient finish that blends two different hues, namely Urban Bamboo and Shifting Carbon. This unique gradient paint job is made possible by the brand’s bespoke Chromaflair colour-shifting paint, which is achieved by applying a dense layer of aluminium flakes that are just 1µm thick and takes 80 hours of manual labour to be applied.
Besides the jade-inspired body hue, other Asian-themed design cues present on the Taycan Celestial Jade include a special emblem that is created based on the mythic Chinese creature ‘Longma’, which features the head of a dragon (‘long’) and body of a horse (‘ma’). This emblem is present not only on the car’s special B-pillar plaque but also on the front seats’ headrests, the carbon-plated door sills, the puddle lamps, and many more.
Elsewhere, all the Taycan Celestial Jade seats are wrapped in special two-tone leather upholstery of Englishgreen and Slate Grey, while both the gloss carbon fibre trims and the 21-inch Taycan Exclusive Design alloy wheels complete the exterior visual cues.
Based on the updated Taycan Turbo S variant, the Taycan Celestial Jade is powered by a dual-motor AWD setup rated at 775 PS (570 kW) and 1,100 NM, with the former figure can go up to 952 PS (700 kW) briefly when the Boost mode is engaged. Said driving mode allows the Taycan Celestial Jade to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in just 2.4 seconds en route to its limited V-Max of 260 KM/H.
The recent update also sees the Taycan Turbo S getting a better all-electric range out of its 105-kWh battery pack, with its WLTP figure now capped at 630 KM. Also upgraded is the charging capabilities, with the Turbo S variant supporting DCFC at 320 kW, which sees a 10-80% charge to be completed in just 18 minutes.
While its first public unveiling took place in Singapore earlier this week, Porsche fans in Malaysia and Thailand will stand a chance to size up the Porsche Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade locally, as this ASEAN one-off special will head for a tour in both nations before being auctioned off next year.
