- Chery Celebrates 15-Millionth Vehicle Production Milestone
Chinese automaker Chery recently produced its 15 millionth vehicle worldwide. Chery says this milestone underscores the company's expanding presence in Malaysia and the vital role the nation has played in the brand's 27-year global strategy.
The milestone car, a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, was manufactured in Brazil and came off the assembly line shortly before three other cars from other plants in Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia. The Tiggo 8 series itself has also surpassed one million units in sales globally.
Introduced in 2023 and currently assembled locally at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah, Chery Auto Malaysia retails the Tiggo 8 Pro in a single variant priced at RM159,800 in Malaysia.
The automaker, which now operates in over 100 nations, successfully held the top spot as China's top passenger cars exporter for 21 years running.
Chery Group sold 1,752,793 units between Jan and Sept 2024, up 39.9% year over year, while exports also reached 829,353 units, up 24.5% year over year.
The business has demonstrated strong performance in the areas of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and internal combustion engines (ICEs). NEV sales jumped by an incredible 186% year over year, while ICE vehicle sales increased by 24.9%.
