- East Coast KTMB Train Operations Disrupted By Flood
According to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), passenger train operations have been disrupted by flooding and landslides at multiple points along the East Coast line, affecting KTM Intercity train services.
It stated that the route between Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah, from KM493 to KM490.85, has been deemed dangerous due to water levels surpassing the rail level. Following this, KTM Intercity services on the East Coast route, including the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran train No. 27 from JB Sentral to Tumpat, were cancelled beginning last night.
Don't worry if you are impacted and unable to continue your trip; KTM will reimburse your entire fare. The official KTMB social media accounts and SMS will be used to spread information about route closures and current developments.
Along with preparing support plans for flood victims at KTMB stations to guarantee prompt and organised distribution of aid, KTMB has also activated a flood operations room in the East Coast sector to track train movements and provide status updates.
“KTMB is conducting flood risk monitoring by referring to daily reports from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia). Priority is also given to locations that are frequently affected by floods,” It said in a statement.

To guarantee that rescue operations and crisis management may be completed effectively, KTMB is also collaborating closely with relevant authorities including the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force (APM).
Additionally, KTMB is mobilising vital resources like rail trolleys to keep an eye on water levels along crucial routes and areas susceptible to landslides. For use during floods, a variety of extra equipment has been supplied, such as safety, communication, and emergency support tools.
