- Launched: 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 – From RM1.948 Million
The newly-updated 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 breaks cover today, priced at RM1.948 million on-the-road.
Headlining Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) ‘Luxury Like No Other’ event today is the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63. Based on the recently facelifted G-Class model (codenamed W465), the new G63 is now retailed at RM1.948 million on-the-road sans insurance and options, making it roughly RM150,000 more expensive than its predecessor.
Standing as the sole variant of the new G-Class offered here, the new G63 retains its predecessor’s tried-and-tested 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that is now augmented with a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) system. Comprising a belt-driven starter-generator (BSG), the MHEV setup adds an extra 20 PS and 200 NM to said 585 PS and 850 NM-rated V8 mill.
Still mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox, the updated V8 powertrain setup allows this 2.6-tonne German behemoth to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in just 4.4 seconds, en route to its electronically-limited V-Max of 240 KM/H.
Besides the updated V8 powertrain, the new G63 also benefits from a slew of other mechanical upgrades, including the AMG Active Ride Control suspension setup, which promises to provide this body-on-frame SUV with better handling performance and ride comfort.
Predictably, the new G63 does not veer far off from its predecessor in the styling department, as the updated model boasts little to no aesthetic changes, which is a good thing for such an iconic model with an instantly recognisable facade. Some minor design changes primed here include the slightly redesigned front and rear bumpers that now feature larger air intakes for the former, more rounded and smoother edges for better aerodynamic performance, and many more.
Being a top-flight AMG model, the G63 still gets several AMG-specific design touches, such as the signature AMG Panamericana front grille, twin side exhaust pipes, AMG brakes with cross-drilled rotors and red-hued callipers, and the 22-inch AMG forged alloy wheels, to name a few.
The AMG-ification continues as we get inside the new G63, with notable AMG equipment primed here including the sporty carbon fibre steering wheel, AMG-specific instrument cluster menus, a slew of AMG badges, and the AMG Track Pace lap time recorder.
Also new on the updated G63 are the dual 12.3-inch MBUX display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and the novel Offroad Cockpit system, while other luxury amenities present here include the Nappa leather-wrapped seats with heated, ventilated, and massage functions for the front ones, two 11.6-inch rear passenger screens, a 15-speaker Burmester audio system, and many more.
Fully-imported (CBU) from the Magna Steyr plant in Austria, the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 is retailed at RM1.948 million on-the-road. Besides taxes and duties, also included with said price is a 4-year unlimited mileage warranty provided by MBM.
