Launched: 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S & GLE 63S Coupe – From RM1.19 Million
The all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S & GLE 63S Coupe have officially launched today, priced from RM1.19 million.
Besides the new Mercedes-AMG G63 (or affectionately known as the G-Wagon), Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) ‘Luxury Like No Other’ event today also saw the German automaker debuting two more high-performance SUV models, namely both the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S and the GLE 63S Coupe. First-time offered in their top-flight 63S 4Matic+ forms, both the new GLE 63S and GLE 63S Coupe are priced at RM1.19 million and RM1.229 million, respectively.
Based on the facelifted fourth-gen GLE and GLE Coupe (codenamed V167 and C167), both the GLE 63S and GLE 63S Coupe are powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 612 PS and 850 NM. Following the footsteps of many new Mercs of late, this V8 mill is now also augmented with a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) system, which adds an extra 20 PS and 200 NM boost thanks to the integrated starter-generator (ISG).
And as their names suggest, both AMG-badged GLEs also come standard with the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD), which works in tandem with both the V8 mill and the 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox to allow for a decent 0-100 KM/H time of 3.9 seconds. V-Max, on the other hand, is capped at 280 KM/H for both models, courtesy of the AMG Driver’s Package.
Elsewhere on the mechanical front, both the GLE 63S and GLE 63S Coupe also come with an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential while riding on the trick AMG Ride Control+ air suspension system with adaptive adjustable damping.
Aside from the obviously different roofline design and the AMG lip spoiler for the Coupe, both the facelifted GLE 63S and GLE 63S Coupe look somewhat identical to each other, featuring a bevy of AMG-specific sporty bits and pieces. Key highlights include the signature Panamericana front grille flanked by the Multibeam LED headlights, a quad-piped AMG Performance exhaust system, a slew of high gloss-black trims and accents courtesy of the AMG Night Package, as well as the 22-inch AMG forged alloy wheels both SUVs roll on.
Unsurprisingly, both models also share an identical interior cabin design, which is primed with tons of AMG-specific parts and luxury amenities. Key highlights include the AMG-exclusive black Nappa leather upholstery paired with AMG carbon-fibre trims, a flat-bottomed AMG Performance steering wheel, the latest MBUX infotainment system with MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation, a panoramic sunroof, a 13-speaker Burmester audio system, and many more.
Unlike their non-AMG counterparts, both the new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S and GLE 63S Coupe are fully-imported (CBU), which also explains their handsome price tags of RM1.19 million and RM1.229 million, respectively. Said prices are inclusive of a 4-year unlimited mileage standard vehicle warranty offered by MBM.
