- Omoda C9 by Jaecoo Set for Dec 2024 Launch – From RM185K Est

The upcoming Omoda C9 is slated to make its local debut later in Dec 2024, priced tentatively from RM185,000.
Following several teasers and previews, Jaecoo Malaysia is slated to launch its second-ever model, the Omoda C9, next month in December. Previewed last month in an exclusive media event, this luxury off-road coupe SUV will be locally-assembled (CKD) at the newly-opened Chery Corporate Malaysia’s Shah Alam plant, which is the same facility that assembles the local-spec Jaecoo J7 SUV.

Thanks to the immediate localisation efforts taken by Jaecoo Malaysia, deliveries for the Omoda C9 are slated to commence as early as Jan 2025 for the top-spec AWD variant. Customers who booked the baseline 2WD model, however, will have to wait a little longer, as deliveries for that model are scheduled to take place later in mid-2025.

Tentatively priced from RM185,000 for the 2WD and RM195,000 for the AWD, the Omoda C9 is positioned as the brand’s midsize coupe SUV fighter with tons of luxury amenities and decent off-roading capabilities. While it may not look like so in photos, the C9 is quite a large SUV, measuring 4,775 MM long, 1,920 MM wide, and a wheelbase of 2,800 MM—making it slightly larger than the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.

Unlike the Tiggo 8 Pro, the Omoda C9 comes exclusively in a two-row, five-seater layout, which grants it a pretty spacious cabin space as well as a generous 660-litre boot space that can be further expanded to 1,783 litres. Besides plenty of space, passengers will also find all sorts of luxury and tech amenities here, including a dual 24.6-inch display, a rhythmic ambient lighting system, a three-zone climate control with built-in fragrance system, ventilated front seats, an electric steering column, a 14-speaker Sony audio system, and many more.

On the powertrain front, Malaysians are getting the full ICE version of the Omoda C9, which hides a peppy 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill rated at 261 HP and 400 NM under its hood. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, drive goes to either the front wheels (FWD) for the 2WD variant or all wheels (AWD) for the AWD variant.
Besides the peppy turbopetrol powertrain setup, the Omoda C9 also gets several premium mechanical bits that one did not expect to see in a sub-RM200,000 vehicle. This includes the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension it underpins, as well as four off-road-specific driving modes (Snow, Mud, Sand, Off-road) for the AWD model, on top of the three standard ones—Normal, Eco, and Sport.

For those who missed the Omoda C9’s first public preview at One Utama last week, Jaecoo Malaysia is organising its first public driving experience for the Omoda C9, set to take place at Plaza Arkadia Carpark CP3 in Desa Parkcity on Nov 9 and 10, from 9 AM to 6 PM. You can learn more about this event by visiting Jaecoo Malaysia’s official website or social media platforms.
