Previewed: Jaecoo Omoda C9 – 2 CKD Variants, Dec Launch, Est. From RM185,000

Previewed earlier today by Jaecoo Malaysia was the new Omoda C9 D-segment luxury SUV offering.
Jaecoo Malaysia is poised to expand its local line-up with yet another luxury SUV offering, this time for the burgeoning D-segment SUVs space. Previewed earlier today was its upcoming new Omoda C9 model.
Before we digress, we’ll help you alleviate any confusion. Whilst you may be familiar with the Omoda sub-brand being part of the main Chery brand, the new Omoda C9 previewed today specifically will instead be carried under Chery Auto Malaysia’s Jaecoo Malaysia arm.

The Omoda C9 will see two variants offered locally, and both will be locally assembled (CKD) at the newly established Chery assembly plant in Shah Alam.
Set to officially launch by Dec this year, Jaecoo Malaysia will offer the Omoda C9 across two variants, those being a base 2WD and higher-specced AWD guises. Additionally, both offerings will be locally assembled (CKD) at the marque’s recently established Shah Alam plant too.
Unlike the bulk of its segment rivals, the Omoda C9 offers seating for up to five across two rows instead of the space’s norm of seven seats across three rows. As for dimensions, this is a sizeable SUV with a 4,775 MM length plus 2,800 MM wheelbase, 1,920 MM width, and 1,671 MM height.

Positioned as a D-segment SUV fighter, the Omoda C9 boasts sizeable proportions plus a spacious interior, the latter matched with a cavernous and practical boot primed with a powered tailgate.
Said footprint figures detailed sees the Omoda C9 promise a rather spacious cabin matched with an equally cavernous and highly practical 660-litre standard boot space. The latter is also expandable up to a maximum of 1,783 litres and boasts a powered tailgate to match too.
Notable exterior design touches include flushed (hidden) door handles, quad exhaust tips, distinct all-LED DRLs plus forward and rear lighting, stylish 20-inch multi-blade alloy wheels, and an unmistakable diamond matrix grille design.

As detailed by Jaecoo Malaysia, the Omoda C9 will packa 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo heart paired with an 8-speed automatic box. It will also boast off-road driving abilities, just like its stablemate the Jaecoo J7.
Underneath, the Omoda C9 adopts a 2.0-litre TGDI 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill outputting 257 HP and 400 NM, and this is paired with an 8-speed automatic box by default. Aptly, two driveline setup choices are available, those being two- (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD).
Like its stablemate the Jaecoo J7, the Omoda C9 boasts off-road driving abilities too. Bolstering this are its 165 MM ground clearance, adaptive suspension with front MacPherson Struts and rear multi-link assemblies, and up to seven selectable drive and terrain modes in the AWD variant.

Not only spacious, the Omoda C9's innards is infused with a high degree of luxury and tech as well.
Moving on to tech and amenities and, typical of Jaecoo, there’s plenty of which on board. Leading the bill is a massive 24.6-inch single panel HD display housing both the digital instrumentation and central infotainment touchscreen.
Notably, both variants also see their innards lined with plush leather and soft-touch materials across the seats, dash, and door inserts.
Other bits primed include NFC-based keyless entry, 50-watt wireless charger, tri-zone automatic climate control with fragrance and air quality system, heated and ventilated front seats with power-adjustment, heated and power-adjustable rear seats, as well as a heads-up display (HUD).

Additionally, the Omoda C9 promises a high degree of safety as well, evident through its offer of 8 airbags and Level 2.5 ADAS package.
Apart from wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus built-in navigation function, the infotainment unit mentioned is also paired with an immersive 14-speaker surround audio suite that also boasts personalised driver speakers built into the headrest.
Over on to safety, both the basics and beyond are covered well. Highlights include 8 airbags lining the cabin, followed by a Level 2.5-rated Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package offering no less than 15 functions and assist, as well as a 540-degree around view monitor.

Jaecoo Malaysia have opened up online ROI for the Omoda C9, which is slated to launch officially by Dec 2024 with estimated prices of RM185,000 (2WD) and RM195,000 (AWD).
Following today’s preview, Jaecoo Malaysia have opened up online Registration Of Interest (ROI) for the new Omoda C9. As for price, the firm has set estimate figures of RM185,000 (2WD) and RM195,000 (AWD).
Ahead of our official launch in Dec, we are excited to share that the public will have the opportunity to experience the C9 at our upcoming roadshows scheduled for the end of Oct,” highlights Emily Lek, Vice President of Jaecoo Malaysia at the new model’s preview earlier today.
“We believe the C9 fulfils the market’s desire for a new exploration of attainable luxury,” adds Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President, Leo Chen. Expect more details, including after-sales packages, once the Omoda C9 officially launches later this year.
