Pos Malaysia Adopts 1,092 e-Motorcycles,Will Electrify Last-Mile Fleet by 2030
Pos Malaysia Bhd took a significant step toward its green goals by adopting 1,092 new electric motorcycles to its delivery fleet. This brings the company closer to its target of fully electrifying its last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030.
This effort is part of Pos Malaysia's sustainability roadmap launched by Pos Malaysia Group CEO, Charles Brewer last year, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.
Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Marketing Officer, Fiona Liao, celebrated the milestone during a delivery event at the Modenas factory. She further stated, “With the addition of these Modenas MEV-1 PRO electric motorcycles, we’re enhancing our commitment to providing cleaner, greener services.”
This new batch of EVs will join the existing 220 electric motorcycles and 143 electric vans already in use across Pos Malaysia’s network, which have collectively travelled 2.8 million KM.
The 143 electric vans are CAM EC35 models adopted in Oct 2023, are on lease from YGT through its drivEV subsidiary. These e-vans come equipped with smart EV telemetry software and are part of Pos Malaysia’s strategy to deliver with a “clean and green smile in the last mile.”
Meanwhile, Modenas CEO Roslan Roskan shared that the company is thrilled to play a central role in Pos Malaysia’s green journey. Modenas also plans to launch a more affordable electric motorcycle model in early 2025 to make eco-friendly transportation accessible to individual consumers as well.
The Modenas MEV-1 Pro is Modenas' second electric motorcycle, following the MEV-1. Weighing only 80 KG, it offers 4.9 kW of power and 165 NM of rear-wheel torque, with a beltless drive. It is powered by a 5.4 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 95 KM and an AC charging time of 4 hours from 0-100%.
He further added that, “Our phased approach meets the needs of both businesses and consumers, ensuring our green mobility journey is inclusive.”
