- BMW M8 Coupe Reportedly Discontinued In 2025
It appears that the BMW M8 Coupe is set to be discontinued soon as BMW reportedly plans to cease its production sometime early next year (2025).
Rumours of German automaker BMW seeking to discontinue its 8 Series range have been abound for some time. However, a recent report by BMW Blog citing a dealer bulletin indicates that said large coupe model range could indeed be axed soon.
According to said report, it appears the 8 Series range is set to shrink first with the discontinuation of the M8 Coupe variant. As a refresher, this is the full-blown M-badged performance flagship flavour of only the second generation iteration of the 8 Series nameplate.

the M8 Competition Coupe pictured packs a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo heart outputting 617 HP and 750 NM that enables 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 2.7 secs.
Production of the M8 Coupe is set to cease sometime early next year (2025), and the Bavarian marque will only process orders placed prior to Dec 20, 2024. After which, this full-fleged M-badged flagship will be retired from the line-up, and its online configurator removed too.
As a refresher, the G15-gen BMW M8 Coupe packs the M division’s signature 4.4-litre V8 twin turbo powerplant outputting 591 HP and 750 NM, or slightly higher 617 HP in M8 Coupe Competition guise instead.
Paired with an 8-speed automatic box and xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD), the base M8 Coupe sees 0-100 KM/H dashes done in just 3.3 secs, or a quicker 2.7 secs in Competition guise as pictured. Additionally, the latter can also hit a claimed V-max of 306 KM/H.
With the M8 Coupe flagship bowing out, could this also signal the end of the 840i and M850i guises of the 8 Series, which also includes a coupe, convertible and four-door 'Gran Coupe' body styles?
With the M8 Coupe’s axing, we’re certain that production for the 8 Series range may also cease soon. Apart from the M-badged flagship mentioned, the range also consists of the 840i and M850i guises offered in coupe (G14), convertible (G15) and four-door ‘Gran Coupe’ (G16) body styles.
Locally, BMW Group Malaysia currently has the M850i xDrive Coupe listed as available on its website still, and it’s priced from RM1,057,640 onwards. This guise also packs a V8 mill, albeit with lower 523 HP output promising 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 3.7 secs.
