- KL Sentral Set For Revamp To Improve Connectivity And Accessibility
Transport Minister Anthony Loke has stated that a major redevelopment of the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station (KL Sentral) will begin later this year.
The project, which will be carried out by the Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), intends to upgrade and improve the station's efficiency and connectivity to the adjacent buildings.
Loke made this announcement during the launch of the Menara Sentral RAC. He also added that the station will undergo major remodelling, including redesigns, repurposing, and construction activities, in order to modernise the building even further.
In Aug last year, the Cabinet gave the redevelopment idea preliminary approval, and it would be conducted as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) effort with MRCB.
This project's cost is expected to exceed RM1.0 Billion, but it would be completed at no cost to the government. Further discussion on this matter is still ongoing with the Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) of the Prime Minister's Department.
Loke went on to elaborate on his vision for the KL Sentral, which would house a comprehensive network that connects all nearby buildings and improves public mobility and accessibility.
