- MLFF Direction Paper To Be Presented To Cabinet In Jan 2025
The direction of the multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system, which will enable drivers to pay tolls without slowing down or stopping their cars, will be outlined in a Cabinet paper that will be presented next month.
According to Ahmad Maslan, deputy minister of works, the report will describe the steps involved in the MLFF system. Ahmad added that the highway concession companies had received letters from the works ministry stating that talks would no longer continue. “Today marks the final day and we have issued the letter to the relevant companies to halt the negotiations that have been going on.
“The ministry will prepare and submit the Cabinet paper for consideration and approval in January 2025,” he told Bernama.
Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi recently emphasised that the MLFF system, which is anticipated to improve toll collection and reduce road congestion, faces a problem in completing its governance structure.
13 of the 33 highway concession companies opposed the MLFF system, according to Nanta, who also added that the process entailed resolving a number of obstacles, namely getting consent from all of the concession firms and drafting legislations for the system's implementation.
