Kia Sets New Global Sales Record in 2024 with 3.089 Million Units
Kia’s global sales in 2024 reached 3.089 million units, setting a new annual global record for the second year in a row.
Kia Corporation has ended 2024 on a high note, as the Korean automaker charts a new annual global sales record by shipping out a total of 3,089,457 vehicles in 2024. This means that Kia has set a new annual global record for the second year in a row, with the previous record taking place back in 2023 at 3,087,384 units.
In Dec 2024 alone, the Korean automaker managed to deliver 240,537 units to customers worldwide, which reflects an 11.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
On top of that, Kia’s stellar global sales record is also reflected in its sales performance in the international markets, with the automaker selling a total of 2,543,361 vehicles outside of Korea last year—a 1% increase over the previous year. However, vehicle sales in their Korean domestic market dropped by 4.2% last year, totaling 540,010 units as opposed to 2023’s 563,660 units.

The Kia Sportage again topped the brand’s global sales in 2024, with a total of 587,771 units of the C-segment SUV sold globally. This is followed by the Kia Seltos subcompact SUV at 312,246 units sold, and the Sorento three-row SUV ranks third at 280,705 units. Also supporting Kia’s record-breaking sales feat are their electrified products, such as the newly-launched Kia EV3 compact EV SUV and the hybrid variant of the Kia Carnival MPV.
Moving forward, Kia is targeting to further increase its global sales this year to 3,216,200 units, citing the more stabilised industry conditions, supply chains, and flexible business operations will help the company to achieve this. Additionally, 2025 will also see Kia expanding its EV portfolio by launching several new and updated models, as well as the expansion of its special purpose vehicles lineup.
Closer to home, local Kia brand vanguard Dinamikjaya Motors (Bermaz Auto) recently launched the locally-assembled (CKD) Kia Sportage SUV into our market. Moving forward, we can expect the automaker to further expand its EV lineup, with models like the EV3 and EV5 reportedly in the pipeline for a 2025 debut.
