M. Nathan, the president of the Association for Land Public Transport Transformation (TPAD), is advocating for the removal of the auto-accept system in e-hailing services, claiming that it unfairly disadvantages drivers by limiting their ability to choose rides based on their comfort and needs.

Additionally, he recommended that any new system should provide drivers the choice to select between manual and auto-accept, and that manual ride acceptance be included unconditionally, The Star has reported.

"The auto-accept system is detrimental to drivers. There are other ways to maintain a steady flow of passenger pick-ups, such as the 'Complete Job and Earn RM' initiative," he said after handing over the memorandum on e-hailing and p-hailing issues to the Transport Ministry on Monday.

The auto-accept issue is one of 21 primary demands made by TPAD about e-hailing and p-hailing services, which they claim burden Malaysia's gig economy drivers in a variety of ways.

TPAD also advocates for increased insurance coverage for gig drivers, ensuring protection both on and off duty, and extending coverage to third parties involved in accidents caused by drivers or delivery staff.
