Ng Sze Han, head of the state investment, trade, and mobility committee, told StarMetro that the state government was finalizing the DRT routes and zones to be expanded under the Selangor Mobility Initiative.

The DRT pilot program, which ran from November 20, 2023, to July 31, 2024, benefited approximately 73,032 commuters, with an average of 8,072 passengers per month. From August 1 to December 31, 2024, the total number of DRT users increased to 98,904, with an average of 19,781 users per month. This represents a 145% increase compared to the pilot phase. Ng stated that the "Selangor Mobility Master Plan Study," which includes a variety of connection options like pedestrian walkways and the Selangor Kita Rail Line, is presently being drafted by the state government to solve important mobility challenges throughout the 12 local councils in Selangor. In order to further improve the DRT service's implementation, Transit Malaysia Vice-Secretary Zac Cheong stressed the importance of taking efficiency, accessibility, and user experience into account. He also mentioned the necessity of a thorough public awareness campaign on the availability of DRT services. “Currently, the DRT service is not fully optimised in terms of routes and schedules, leading to inefficiencies and longer waiting times.

“Improvements can be made by having real-time data analytics to ensure vehicles take the most efficient paths and reduce travel time,” he told StarMetro.
DRT was implemented in November 2023 as part of the RM25 million Selangor Mobility program, which aims to improve the state's public transport infrastructure and solve the issue of first- and last-mile connection.
Services are currently available across 11 zones in Selangor, with Trek Rides operating in six (Puchong, Ampang, Hulu Kelang, Taman Keramat, Taman Melawati and Serdang) and Mobi operating in five (Taman Megah, Ara Damansara, Bandar Utama, Bandar Sunway and Subang Jaya’s USJ). Passengers can book rides via a mobile app, while drivers are guided by a separate app within a defined geofenced zone.
