- LHD Dodge Challenger Driver’s Toll Gate Dilemma Goes Viral

Though we live in a country that adopted the left-hand traffic (LHT) format and right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles, there are exceptions made to allow local use of certain left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles designed for right-hand traffic (RHT) use.
Besides a handful of special military vehicles plus airport fire and rescue tenders, you’ll also find that our local grey import market has a thriving number of high-end American muscle cars on sale that are mostly – if not all – sold in LHD form only.
Obviously, driving a LHD car in RHD traffic conditions poses several challenges, and arguably the most obvious of which is perfectly illustrated in this recent viral TikTok video showing a local driver in a bright green Dodge Challenger getting stuck at a toll gate.
Though most major highways have switched to unmanned cashless toll payment systems, there are still some toll booths that require drivers to tap either their Touch n’ Go (TnG) or credit/debit cards on a terminal due to the unavailability of either RFID or SmartTAG scanners.
This is exactly why the Dodge Challenger driver filmed in this viral video was forced to step down from his prized muscle car and walk across to tap his (presumably) TnG card on the terminal and promptly raise the toll booth’s barriers.
The ordeal was captured by another motorist queued behind said Dodger Challenger driver and uploaded online. What’s surprising is just how calm the person filming this video was with the situation, as well as the casual and calm demeanour of the Dodge’s driver.
The latter perhaps signals that he was long prepared and ready for situations as such. This however did not stop social media users and observers from shelling out a wide variety of comments and speculation towards the situation.
Nonetheless, this is one clear example of the special prices some pay to drive their rare and prized LHD cars on our roads, and there are plenty of which like this Dodge Challenger pictured.
For those wondering, the Challenger model pictured appears to be the high-powered SRT Hellcat variant that supposedly packs a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 mill outputting a whopping 707 HP and 881 NM to enable a sub-4-sec 0-100 KM/H sprint time.
A handful of these made landfall locally through various specialist recond importers roughly priced anywhere between RM450,000 to RM1,000,000 depending on variant.
